Salmena Carvalho

Salmena Carvalho is an academic with experience teaching in both the UK and China, enabling her to share her skills and knowledge on a global level. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, she began her career as a private pattern-cutting tutor before transitioning into the higher education sector. Her expertise span from pattern cutting, research methodology, illustration, presentation, and project management.

In addition to her academic work, Salmena has worked as a freelance Buyer and Design Consultant and has mentored start-up businesses.

Salmena is dedicated to creating equitable learning environments that foster supportive and inclusive spaces where individuals feel valued, empowered, and encouraged to push boundaries. She is committed to embedding empathy-driven design into every aspect of her work.
