In Part 1 of our exclusive 4-part series, Sue shares what motivated her to co-found HASOU Fashion Academy and how its philosophy is deeply rooted in over three decades of experience in fashion education and industry collaboration.
βAfter 35 years in fashion education and close partnerships with the industry, I co-founded HASOU Fashion Academy to reimagine fashion education, to bridge the gap between education and industry. I recognised a clear need for a model that supports creatives not only during their studies but throughout their entire careers. HASOU is the first fashion academy of its kind to offer ongoing mentorship and professional guidance both during and beyond the course. It represents a new paradigm where education is not a destination but an evolving journey.
The vision behind HASOU is profoundly personal, shaped by decades of teaching, industry experience, and listening to students who crave more than just a qualification; they seek purpose-driven, sustainable careers in fashion. I am deeply passionate about empowering the next generation of creatives, helping them navigate the competitive and often challenging industry. Too often, talented graduates are left unsupported and struggle to turn their skills into sustainable careers. HASOU exists to change that. Itβs a space where creativity is nurtured, innovation has purpose, and education makes a real, lasting impact.
At the heart of HASOU is a global team of exceptional, passionate, and respected industry professionals who bring deep expertise and a genuine commitment to mentorship. They are not only leaders in their fields but approachable, curious, and wholeheartedly dedicated to nurturing the next generation of creative talent.
Iβm proud to say that HASOU isnβt just an academy, itβs a creative community. This is an environment where innovation aligns with purpose, education extends beyond traditional boundaries, and each mentee receives the necessary support to contribute to the advancement of the fashion industry.β
